Fostering You can help save a life!
A foster home is a temporary safe haven for a rescued dog or cat. It is the most crucial yet scarce ingredient in animal rescue. The more available foster homes, the more pets we are able to rescue. For pets in animal control, a shortage of space means death! Foster homes are safe, secure, stable environments that provide love and care to rescued animals.
It takes a very special person to open their heart to and home to a needy animal, to love and nurture it for a period of time and then give it up when a permanent home is found. By taking just ONE needy rescue puppy or kitty into your home you are making the difference between life and death. Your commitment creates a space for us take other animals out of the shelters and save more lives.
The responsibility of a foster home is to provide safe, stable surroundings to build confidence in a rescued dog or cat. Some animals may require special care such as post medical attention, increasing weight or strength, socializing, building trust, and exercise. Some just require you. Through fostering, these animals learn to understand that the safest place in the world is in the arms of their caregivers. As little as a week spent in your home can often give the cat or dog the confidence it needs to find a permanent home.
We’ll accommodate your preference for cats/kitten, dogs/puppies as well as size, age, sex, etc. The length of your commitment is up to you. Hope Humane Society provides all food, crates, medical treatment, etc for your foster. As a foster parent you can help HHS update your foster fur-baby’s website bio with regarding potty training, temperament, ability to get along with people, kids and other pets. The more we know the better the chance at finding a permanent home for every dog and cat. If during your fostering you fall in love with your fur-baby and you choose to adopt him or her, your application will take precedence over all others.
